Module 2: Trading Fundamentals
Margin Call
4 min read
A margin call is a warning that your equity is close to the minimum needed to keep positions open.
What triggers it
Each broker sets a margin call level, for example 100% margin level. When your equity falls to that point, you may be asked to deposit funds or reduce positions. Some brokers simply notify you on the platform.
Key takeaways
- A margin call is a warning, not a closure.
- Levels differ between brokers and accounts.
- Good position sizing avoids margin calls.
