Module 3: Trading Platforms
MetaTrader 4
5 min read
MT4 is a long-established trading platform focused on forex, offered by many brokers.
What MT4 offers
MetaTrader 4, developed by MetaQuotes, provides charts, technical indicators, one-click trading and automated trading through Expert Advisors (EAs) written in MQL4.
It is available on desktop, web and mobile. Your broker supplies the server and prices; the platform is only the interface.
Main windows
Market Watch lists instruments and prices. Navigator holds accounts, indicators and EAs. The Terminal shows open trades, account balance, history and alerts.
Key takeaways
- MT4 is an interface; prices come from your broker.
- Market Watch, Navigator and Terminal are the key panels.
- EAs automate trading but carry their own risks.
Educational content only, not financial advice. Trading forex and CFDs involves significant risk of loss.
